2025 Farm Day!

The annual Amador County Farm Day, which took place at the Amador County Fairgrounds on September 25th, hosted over 300 3rd Grade students from all elementary schools throughout the county. Various stations were set up across the fairgrounds, educating students about farms, ranches, timber forests, croplands, and the biodiversity of Amador's regions.

The Amador Resource Conservation District educated the students on Defensible Space, and showed them the importance of implementing this critical component at their homes, helping to mitigate wildfire damage. Squirt bottles and blindfolds abundant, the students were able to see how homes with proper defensible space (with an emphasis on appropriate tree spacing and hazardous vegetation removal) were more likely to survive damage from a wildfire, than those without. The students took on the roles of houses, trees, and the ever-dangerous wildfire! Many were sprayed, but all learned the importance of Defensible Space and how to keep their homes and property safer from the threat of wildfire!
