Steve Cannon - President ARCD, Director
since 1998
Steve is a Registered Forester and president of Foothill
Resource Management, a forestry consulting firm in Pine Grove. His past
experience includes; work as a federal forester, working in timber theft
investigation, timber sale administration, forest inventory, reforestation,
prescribed fire, project management on an international aid project
in Honduras. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras from 1977-79.
He currently owns a tree farm in Volcano, CA. Steve is Married to Debra
Brown and the father of two daughters.
Steve was the author of the Forest Stewardship grant
for ARCD that created a 50 acre fuel break in Pioneer, CA and chaired
the original group that lead to the development of the $350,000 Prop
204 Watershed Protection grant.
Dan Port - Secretary - Director since
2004
Dan and Susan Port have operated Winterport Farm near
Ione for 25 years. Susan’s family has been farming in the Ione
area since 1867. The Port's are currently raising beef cattle, hay,
pumpkins, and Christmas trees. Dan is a Board member of the Amador Land
Trust and currently serves on the Board of Supervisors Agricultural
Advisory Committee. He was appointed to the RCD Board in 2004.
Lola Blevins - Director appointed
June 2004
Lola is the newest director on the board. After a
career in the computer industry, Lola and her husband Mike relocated
to Amador County on a 50 acre tree farm where they are learning to
manage their land for sustainable timber harvest and raising horses
for trail and recreation. Lola also serves on the Amador Fire Safe
Council Board of Directors as the Secretary for the board.

Bob Long - NRCS
A graduate of Fresno State in 1964, Bob began he career
with the Soil Conservation Service (now called the Natural Resources
Conservation Service) in 1966. Bob has worked in Mendota, Fresno,
Visalia, Madera, Lompoc, and has now spent the last 30 years in Jackson.
Married to Lorraine (Oneto), with one son and two grandchildren. Bob
has worked on several projects, including the Farmers Market, Weed
Advisory Group, Fire Safe Council, Central Sierra RC&D and has
organized all the past farmland tours. Bob covers not only Amador,
but is responsible for Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties as well.
